2014 ABA CONVENTION

March 7-9, 2014

Two Managers!

Phil Grabar and Mitch Caren face off in the only playoff series this year in which both managers led their teams. After falling behind 3 games to 1, Phil's Grays rally to take the series in 7 games.

Mikogo

Jerry Valenti manages the Connecticut Crows for Mark Snyder while Brian Hoyt connects via Mikogo to manage his One Eleven A's (or is he managing the Tampa Rambo War while Mark manages the Crows via Mikogo?). Regardless, CC wins both series, 4-1 over OE and 4-2 over TB.

If Anyone Spills a Drink on this Rug...

Pat uses Jerry's mini-Louisville Slugger (actually purchased at the factory in Louisville) to pry open the window and let out some of the hot air that is circulating during the Free Agent Draft.

No First Round Picks?

Mike Perry goes over the list of free agents as he prepares for his first pick in the Free Agent Draft

I Don't Like this iPad

Mitch Caren (on the iPad) and Moe Guadette (on the laptop) follow along as the free agents are selected

In the Dark

Steve Malinowski and Jay Leininger sport their matching Phillies shirts and matching laptops for the Free Agent Draft. Jay has to leave early to watch his daughter play in the basketball championships. He says next year he'll be rooting against her team so he'll be able to stay longer at the Convention.

Trophy Ceremony

Phil Grabar wins the runner-up trophy for this year. His Grays made it to the World Series but lost in 5 games to the Connecticut Crows. In the background, Cole Hamels checks on the status of his arm injury.

All-Star Game

In one of the more enjoyable All-Star Games in the past few years, the NL defeats the AL (one of the reasons it is so enjoyable) by a score of 5-2. Six managers participate in the game and make it a raucous affair.

Breakfast at the Diner

Belgian Waffles and other traditional Blue Flame Diner fare feature the traditional Sunday morning breakfast before everyone leaves for home. This year's breakfast participants are Jerry, Phil, Moe, Mitch and Charlie.
